Winners and their first and second runner ups from the various Chef Afrique contests in the individual African countries would be invited to present their recipes. Hundred recipes would be selected and the contestants invited for selection interview. After series of screening, the best twenty contestants would be selected and housed in the Chef Afrique Home for one month after which they would take part in the final cooking competition. During the one month stay in the house, the contestants would be taken through drills on creating new recipes, new methods of cooking and innovative ways of serving dishes. All these would be done by seasoned chefs and nutritionists. The one who emerges winner in the competition would be crowned “Chef Afrique.”
Chef Afrique is intended to let contestants come out with their own recipes, different from the common dishes that we know. The ingredients would be ordinary items around us but the food should be new and unique. The recipe should be one’s own creation.
Contestants would be given ingredients free of charge with which they would have to prepare a 3-course meal each, i.e. starter, main meal and desert. The meal should contain carbohydrate, protein, fat, vitamins, mineral salts and fiber, all in their correct proportions.
